Outside the Square

Great public transport links, and parking for over 5,000 Robin Reliants!

It is obvious that one of the reasons I love watching the All Blacks so much is because they mostly win. This is a pleasant antidote to the other sports teams I have hitched my life wagon to: the Black Caps, the Hurricanes ... and West Ham United.

Now, at the risk of going ‘off piste’ from rugby slightly, I’d like to point out that this week West Ham were finally granted the long-term lease of London’s Olympic Stadium after next year’s Olympics. They beat (Evil) Spurs to the deal, but what it means (regardless of staying in the Premiership next season, or fuss over retaining the athletics track around the pitch) is that there is going to be a 60,000 seat brand new stadium right in East London with excellent transport links.

I think one of the so-called ‘London based’ Aviva Premiership clubs should get in there - either share the ground with West Ham, or play a handful of home games there. Give London a real rugby presence instead of hiding in Twickenham or parking your Landrover out in Buckinghamshire.

Get your boatshoes off, and your white trainers on, son. Pound, your Banana!!!

And NZRFU? How about you getting in touch with West Ham and having an All Black Test in the city? Negotiate a better gate revenue sharing deal than we may be able to get at HQ and make some money. Three for a pound!

C’mon you Irons All Blacks!
